Dr. Richard Brunning received the Minnesota Distinguished Pathologist Award in the Fall of 2008 from the Minnesota Society of Pathologists. Enclosed is an article about the award and interview with Dr. Brunning. It includes comments from colleagues.

New hematopathology journal: The Journal of Hematopathology

Editor-in-Chief, is now active and accepting submissions. The second issue was provided to all
attendees of the EAHP meeting in Bordeaux. An online version is also available. Click here

New! SH/EAHP Discussion Board
This Discussion Board will serve as a repository for new and ongoing discussions. As new topics are created,
you will be notified by email and referred to this site. You can visit anytime. At this time,
only the moderator can add a new discussion topic, but we hope to open this to all members in
the future.
Atlas on Reactive and Inflammatory Lymphadenopathies
It is my great pleasure and honour to briefly introduce the Atlas on Reactive and Inflammatory
Lymphadenopathies produced by Proffessors Lennert and Diebold some years ago. This is a
masterpiece that outstandingly covers a very difficult area of our discipline, being provided
with beautiful illustrations and comprehensive information that reflect the unique experience
and skill of the Authors.
I wish to thank Springer-Verlag, ADICAP and TRIBUN for the permission given to have the Atlas
visible on the EAHP/SH web-site. Those who are interested in having it in the form of a CD can
directly contact Springer-Verlag as indicated in the Introduction.
I do hope that you will enjoy the Atlas and I am sure that we all will greatly benefit from its
consultation.

Journal of Hematopathology
On January 1, 2008, the Journal of Hematopathology will be launched. This new, open access
journal aims at providing the important developments in Hematopathology for practising
hematopathologists, general pathologists with an interest in in hematopathology, hematologists
and scientists working in the field of hematopathology. The journal will cover the entire
field of hematopathology, including lymphomas, reactive processes, bone marrow diseases, and
techniques including flow cytometry, molecular techniques and immunohistochemistry. The first
two years the journal will be available on-line without subscription and submission of papers
will be at no cost. A printed version will be available at request. I invite you all to
submit papers that are of interest for the described audience. The Journal will have a fast
reviewing process, and accepted manuscripts will be processed within a very short time and be
available on-line. Additional information and online manuscript submission are now available on the Springer Website.
WHO Bluebook Revision
What's going on with the WHO Bluebook revision? You can see a brief powerpoint presentation on the steps leading to the expected publication of the new Bluebook in 2008, review an unofficial draft of the updated classification and see an unofficial listing of the chapters and their authors (all subject to change with some controversial issues still to be settled!). Nothing you see here is final, please keep that in mind.

On November 6th, 2006 Professor Karl Lennert received the first
copy of the book "History of the European Association for Haematopathology" he wrote to
illustrate the way by which the idea of such Society was developed and nourished through some
decades. The book was donated by the EAHP President, Professor Stefano A. Pileri, during a
private, touching ceremony organised by Springer (click the following thumbnail images to enlarge).
Stefano Pileri, remembering
with some emotion the time spent by himself and many other colleagues at the Kiel Institute of
Pathology in the past, expressed the pleasure of all EAHP members, Executive Committee,
past-Presidents and President-elect in supporting the publication of the book as a tribute to
Professor Lennert for his dedication in the EAHP development and outstanding scientific work that
pioneered the present knowledge of Haematopathology. Prof. Pileri also thanked Springer for the
skilled and participated Editorial activity. The copy was co-signed by Professor Lennert,
Professor Pileri, Misses Gabriele Schröder and Ellen Blasig, Springer Clinical Medicine Executive
and Desk Editor, respectively.

Report from the Central Pathology Review of Cases entered into INCTR study and short course on tumours of lymphoid tissue
Location: The Certosa di Pontignano, University of Siena
This workshop, apart from being a follow-up of the central pathological review
of all cases who had either entered or were intended to be entered into the
INCTR's study 03-06 on Burkitt lymphoma, will provide a platform to illustrate
many pitfalls in lymphoma diagnoses, and address measures tocounter the
diagnostic difficulties. The aim of this meeting is to share the experience of
the visiting haematopathologists with pathologists from different backgrounds
and different sites across the globe, and also include discussions on the more
recent developments in the field. Furthermore, this meeting will provide an
excellent opportunity of plan future clinical and research studies in lymphomas
twinning the developed and the developing countries
